1. Overwatch
Overwatch may be known most prominently for its posteriors, but trust me, there’s also a pretty great first-person shooter hiding underneath. You choose from 22 heroes, each one playing radically different from the other, as you fight for supremacy over points, or to push payloads (or stop the enemy from pushing their payload). It’s got a bright, colourful aesthetic inspired by Pixar, and it’s definitely one of the best first-person shooters of 2016. The best part is, it’s looking to be supported for now, and beyond, with plenty of content coming into the game over time, all for absolutely free.
2. Battlefield 1
Who would’ve imagined that the Battlefield franchise would take a U-turn and go straight back to World War I, which was the biggest conflict of its time. Featuring period authentic gear and actual locations for major battles, Battlefield 1 is slated to release on October 21st this year. Will it be the best first-person shooter of 2016? Impossible to say now, but it’s certainly got the hype machine in its favour – the game’s debut trailer was the most liked in YouTube history.
3. Shadow Warrior 2
Demons from another dimension have invaded the planet under Zilla’s command and players must fight back against them. Play as Lo Wang, a ninja warrior of the modern era, and fight through the demons with over 70 weapons. The weapons have awesome upgrades which include elemental properties and buffs. Every mission in the game, apart from the story missions, have randomized enemy positions, terrains, weather and buildings, giving players a new experience each time they play.
